We just completed the first 2 weeks of coursework at ISB, and the experience has been amazing, to say the least.

I must say we are really lucky to have been taught by a few of the best professors from across the globe, but like the 2 faces of the same coin, I liked the pedagogy of some profs and found myself clueless in the lectures of some profs.

I am grateful that I got to experience the two ends of the spectrum during the first term itself. Let me tell you why.

I am grateful, I got to study from a professor whose pedagogy was aligned with my understanding pattern. We will call him the Good Prof.
The Good Prof. ignited the sense and purpose of learning in me again, which I must have lost due to the 6 years of grind in a corporate, if not for any other reason. I am more excited for the MBA now than I was when on Day 0. Learning from the Good Prof has been the best experience I have had in a classroom and mind you these classes were taught over zoom. I can't help but imagine how much I would have learned if the class was in person. The Good Prof taught me how to widen my horizon of learning and how to think in a more structured way and I'll be eternally thankful to him/her.

Now let's look at the flip side of the coin.

I am grateful, I got to study from a professor whose pedagogy was NOT aligned with my understanding pattern. We will call him Bad Prof, just because I was Bad at being taught, not because he/she was bad at teaching. Yes, you can call me the Bad Student here, but then the title of the article wouldn't be so poetic.

The Bad Prof taught me the importance of self-dependence, resilience, and the importance of the ecosystem around. I had to toil hard to understand concepts that I was hearing for the first time. I spent a lot of time going over the same thing over and over again and had to reach out to my amazing peers to learn the same concepts, but in the end, I came out on the top(hopefully the midterms marks will agree). I am a Better Student now. I am less dependent on the classroom for my learnings, which was how I learned in my undergrad. The Bad Prof has opened some new avenues of learning for me and I couldn't be more grateful to him/her.
